I cannot believe how quickly this wonderful day came and went, but we have memories to last a lot longer.
Once engaged, our journey to the aisle moved pretty quickly. Our wedding, and everything that came with it, was planned in 8 short months.
The ceremony took place in a church I was raised in and included a variety of traditional Maronite Catholic aspects such as the crowning of the Bride and Groom and lighting of the family candles.
Our reception followed, at a quaint Cape Dutch-style venue, Buitengeluk. I wanted the wedding to feel like an intimate, warm family dinner (As intimate as a function with 160 guests can be). This number was quite tame considering my very large family. Despite the numbers, we managed to achieve just what I wanted.
All guests were seated at wooden banquet tables dripping in greenery with blush and burgundy accents, and copper details. A succulent adorned every second place setting as a gift for the ladies. Two fireplace mantles were draped in the same floral runners decorating the tables. The main table shimmered in a rose gold sequence cloth and sat quaintly under an incredibly beautiful hanging flower display. Fairy lights, woven between the greenery, and grey candles created a magical atmosphere, once the sun had set.
Our 2 course plated menu was dynamic and absolutely delish! All the food was wonderful. From the canapes right down to the wedding cake, we received raving reviews all around. Our gorgeous dessert tables offered gourmet treats, traditional Lebanese and Portuguese desserts and our carrot and vanilla wedding cake. We even had a Gelato ice cream bar.
Our wedding day was one memorable experience, but just the first of many in this thing called 'marriage'.
